Very well done to sixth year student Leah Wasson who was honoured with a Sligo-Leitrim Youth Award on Tuesday 29th November for her voluntary work within the community. These are awarded by an Gárda Siochána and sponsored by Sligo Credit Union to reward and celebrate people who give time and energy to others within their own community. Leah was nominated by SGS for her volunteer work at the Faith and Light charity shop in wine street. She has been actively involved in helping out in both the school and wider community since TY. As well as her work as a volunteer in the Faith and Light shop, Leah acted as a mentor to first year students in SGS and was a steward for the All-Ireland Fleadh when it was held in Sligo. Currently she is working towards her Silver Gaisce Award which, among other things, requires her to be actively involved in community work. Leah is pictured here receiving her award from Superintendent Michael Clancy.
