Congratulations to the Sligo Grammar School 1st XV and their coaches Jimmy Gavin, Sean Taylor, physio Raymond Byrne and intern Darragh Williams, on winning the Connacht School Rugby Cup.
A day that history was written. On the day of the first senior school final under floodlights in the Dexcom Stadium Galway Sligo Grammar School become the first team to win the Senior Schools Cup and League Cup for three consecutive years.
Commiserations to our Junior Team and their coaching staff Jimmy Staunton, Simon Galvin and David Cummins, in just losing out in the Junior School final in the last play of a hugely competitive game.
Appreciation also to Tadgh Power and Stanley Hunter for coaching the ladies teams and Conor Brandon for his administrative support.
Both games were played in a physical, skilful and competitive manner by both teams.
Congratulations to Marist College Athlone on their victory in the Junior Schools Cup and commiserations to their valiant senior team.
Last but not least a huge thank you to our travelling staff and supporters, and in particular, the SGS students. Your support was unwavering, and your behaviour was exemplary.
