Science week was marked in Sligo Grammar School with a range of activities highlighting the important role that science plays in todays world. Seniors and juniors were given riddles and dingbats to solve during the week. The junior winners were Ruaridh Macpherson, Ajay Poonia and Abigail Montgomery. And senior winners were Fionn McAllister, Ben Mead and Roseanna Callan. TYs competed in a Science Quiz using the on-line platform, Kahoot while the whole school was invited to get posing for the Science Photo Booth! In class the TYs and fifth years had the opportunity to meet and handle a variety of reptiles. It was a unique learning experience for them. The 2nd years attended a webinar entitled “Have I got Your Attention?” which was delivered by Dr. Yvonne Lang from the School of Science in Sligo IT. The talk dealt with issues surrounding the impact technology has on our lives, from communication to climate change. First years relaxed with some mindful science colouring pages while older science students created Science-themed displays, one celebrating women in Science and another celebrating the worst ever science jokes!!
