Again this year Sligo Grammar School TY students have entered the Irish Angus Beef Schools Competition. There are three stages to complete before the final competitors are selected. In stage one the students submitted videos presenting their project ideas, and following this, two SGS groups have progressed to the second stage of the competition. Jill Carnegie, Charlene Petrie and Zoe Gordon explored the theme of farm safety for their project while Ruby Caldbeck, Mia Allen, Roisin Yilmaz and Catherine Hill explored the theme of sustainability on Irish farms. On Thursday 20th January the students travelled to Limerick with their teacher, Michelle Higgins, where they were interviewed about their projects. The interview panel was made up of experts in the field, including members from Irish Angus Producer Group, ABP and Kepak. The girls patiently await the results of stage two in the hope of progressing to Stage three which will be held in Croke Park in April. We wish them the best of luck.
