At the end of November Sligo Grammar School students , Eoin McCormack, Dara Kilcommons, Alana Guckian-Walton, Abigail Montgomery and Síofra McElduff, took part in the European Youth Parliament Connacht-Ulster regional session, held in the Sligo Park Hotel. Anushka Pathak, having had her own EYP success earlier in the year in being selected for the International European Youth Parliament, has taken on a central role as part of the EYP organising committee for this regional session. EYP is an organisation that aims to promote youth involvement in politics and connect young people from all across Europe. During the course of the regional session the students were assigned to committees and discussed various important issues facing the EU today. By the end of the session each committee put together a resolution which states what they think are the most innovative and effective solutions to the problem. Each committee then presented and defended their resolutions at a General Assembly. A huge congratulations to each of our students who took part, as all were on committees that were successful in getting their resolutions passed at General Assembly.
