Hallowe’en Celebration

To mark the last day of a long half term the whole school got involved in a Hallowe’en Celebration. Organised as a fundraiser by the YSI (Young Social Innovators) TY class, the Hallowe’en themed events lent a feel-good atmosphere to the day. The main event was the whole-school fancy dress, with a pumpkin carving competition and a Hallowe’en themed Bake Sale at break time and lunchtime. Staff and students got decked out in fancy dress and everyone who took part – most of the school population – contributed €2 to charity, as well as buying a few cakes for break time! All the money raised – over €800 – was donated to the North West STOP charity who works to promote positive mental health, and who had come to speak to the students the previous week. Well done to the YSI Committee and huge thanks to their teacher, Elaine Dwyer. On top of all that, the music department held the first lunchtime concert of the year featuring students from all years helped out by some staff. A great way to end the term!
