Field Trips 2020

This September the sixth year Geography students were lucky enough to get out on their annual Geography field trip which is central to their Leaving Cert exam. They went out to the river Difreen which flows into Glencar Lake. While there they examined both the upper and lower course of the river, measuring for example the speed and volume of water flow, depths of the river at different stages, slope of the banks and the rate of transport of material by the water. All the gathered data will be studied and presented as part of the project which accounts for 20% of the Leaving Cert Geography exam. The students really enjoyed the day out, and were lucky to have good weather for their work. They appreciated the fact that they were able to go out to do the study in these difficult days, and thank their teachers for organising the outing. The school thanks the land-owners for allowing the sixth years onto their land to carry out their field study.
