History was made in Sligo Grammar School as our first Leaving Certificate Physical Education class of 24 students started studying this new optional Leaving Cert course. The course will be examined for the first time in June 2022. The LCPE course aims to allow students become skilled and informed when it comes to physical activity and performance. Students will study different areas related to physical activity and performance, including issues such as gender, technology and business in relation to sport. The course in SGS is taught by Mr Cradock, who is delighted to see PE become an exam subject. Of course all senior students still have PE classes as usual, and the school encourages students to get involved in some form of physical activity as we all know that activity is part of a well-balanced life.
