Sewing for Charity

On the afternoon of Friday 31st Feb. staff and students from SGS got down to making Joey and Wallaby pouches for the animals orphaned and injured in the wildfires in Australia. The Sewing Bee took place in the HE room and Science Lab. with Ms Kilroy, Ms Tiernan, Ms Shannon, Ms Hynes, Ms Hall and Ms Fairbanks helping 5th yr. students sew the pouches. While the rest of the students were on a half day these dedicated and selfless students worked hard to produce the pouches which will make a great difference to the rescue charities struggling to save the wild animals of Australia. Thanks to anyone who contributed fabric for the project, including Mary Durcan from The Craft and Sewing Basket, Sligo, who donated fabric to the team.

Thank you also to the many people who made cakes and cookies for the Bake Sale in aid of Australian wildlife charities, where over €500 was made. Well done to Ms Tiernan who organised the whole project! Photos are HERE
