This year two groups of TY students submitted outfits for the Junk Kouture Design Competition. We are delighted to say that “Got You Covered”, designed and made by Clare Ison, Rachel Thorpe and Rachel Wang, made it through to the Regional finals. The design was inspired by the rain in Ireland and made out of broken umbrellas which the girls had gathered from cafes and restaurants around Sligo. The Regional Final will take place in Castlebar on Thursday March 7th. The second SGS group of Ciara Lindsey, Hadley Scott and Emma Gallagher, designed and made “All Tied Up” from rubbish, such as rope and plastic, and shells gathered from Mullaghmore beach as well as discarded materials from home and school. The design reflected the pollution of our western ocean. Unfortunately this design did not make it through to the regional final, but hopefully the upcoming public vote will succeed in getting the creation through to the finals. The public vote will take place from Monday 11th to Friday 15th so we ask everyone to vote at least once a day (perfectly legal!) and get all friends and family to do the same! We will post information about the on-line vote on Monday.
