Sligo Grammar School is delighted for past pupil, Kuba Wojtkovicz who made SGS history when he was capped for Ireland in the Rugby World Cup U20 tournament on June 7th. Kuba was called onto the squad to replace the injured James French in the match against Georgia. With 10 minutes to go he was brought onto the front row as tighthead prop. When he came on, Kuba made several good clean-outs at ruck time and went on to score the final try of the game. Unfortunately it was not enough to secure a win for Ireland and the final score was 24 – 20 to Georgia. Kuba was always 100% dedicated to rugby and has worked hard to reach this level. It was a marvellous debut for him, not only to be part of the team but to score a try on his first outing – what an achievement! Needless to say all at SGS are so proud of him and will be watching closely and cheering him on in his rugby career!
