It was with great sadness that Sligo Grammar School learnt of the death of Canon Liz McElhinney on Tuesday 13th June. Rev Liz, as she was fondly known in SGS, was our chaplain from her arrival in Calry Church in 2001 until she left Sligo in 2007. In her time with us Rev Liz was a friend to all, staff and students alike. A more genuine, warm or gentle person you could not meet. She treated all of us with great respect and kindness, no matter what our background or belief, and was great fun to be around. We are certainly richer for having known her. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to her husband Cyril and her sons Stephen, David and Vance. May she rest in peace.
