Seachtain na Gaeilge

This years 5th form class got busy last week and organised what has become our annual Seachtain na Gaeilge. For the last two weeks schools and communities all around the country have been involved in promoting all things Irish. Sligo Grammar School has developed quite a tradition in this regard, having run a Seachtain na Gaeilge for the past number of years. This year’s Seachtain was a great success – as ever – and enjoyed by all year groups. Irish cultural activities abounded such as the Puc Fada, a Tráth na gCeist, and the ever popular Dáta Dall. Sixth year students particularly enjoyed playing Gaelic football for PE, while the younger years threw themselves wholeheartedly into a treasure hunt as Gaeilge. The week finished with a whole-school non-uniform day in aid of our Fields of Life student in Uganda, Victo. Everyone wore green and contributed €2 towards an education fund for Victo. Well done to the 5th year students who organised and ran the week with help from their Irish teachers. See some photos from the week HERE
